Foreclosure Review Deadline Extended - Tri-State News, Weather & Sports

Foreclosure Review Deadline Extended

There's still help and hope for those foreclosed on or fearing foreclosure.

The government has extended its deadline to review possible mistakes made by lenders.

The federal program is called the Independent Foreclosure Review.

The FEDS think so many homeowners may be victims of lender mistakes, it has extended the deadline to apply for review till December 31st.

Foreclosure review is available to anyone who was involved in the foreclosure process between January 1, 2009 and December 31, 2010.

HUD-approved free housing counseling is available nationwide.

They say if someone tries to charge you for help, it's likely a scam.
