HOPKINS CO., KY (WFIE) -

Around 2 o'clock Sunday afternoon, Central Dispatch in Hopkins County received a report of an overturned vehicle on KY138, approximately 2 miles east of the Edward Breathitt Parkway.

Deputies arrived on scene and found a  2005 Ford pickup truck overturned, in the middle of the roadway.

The driver of the vehicle, Phillip Bennett, was conscious. He was attempting to get his unconscious wife, Linda Bennett, out of the vehicle.

The Bennett's were traveling east on KY138 when the pickup truck traveled off the right shoulder of the roadway and struck a concrete culvert.  The culvert caused extensive damage to the suspension and undercarriage of the truck.

The truck then traveled back across the roadway, struck an earth embankment, and then began to roll.

Med Center Ambulance Service arrived and began to administer aid to both occupants.

Hopkins County Coroner Dennis Mayfield arrived on scene and pronounced Linda Bennett deceased.

Phillip Bennett was taken to Regional Medical Center and treated for his injuries.

The cause of the collision is under investigation.
