EVANSVILLE, IN (WFIE) -

The Evansville Vanderburgh School Corporation's Medical Professions Academy, also known as MPA, will host an informational session for current 8th grade students, along with an open house for current MPA students.

It's taking place at Central High School Monday evening.

The first one begins at 6 p.m. and is open to current 8th graders and their parents.

Visitors will hear from current MPA students and tour some of the classrooms.

The event will also provide information about the Medical Professions Academy.

After that session, beginning at 7:30 p.m., an open house is scheduled for current MPA students.

Students who enroll in this academy, can expect a half day program that allows students to explore the medical field as a profession.

School officials say students learn by doing a lot of hands-on, field projects.

The academy is open to any student from the area entering school as a freshmen in the 2013-2014 school year.
