MADISONVILLE, KY (WFIE) -
The Madisonville Police Department is investigating a teenager's death.
Police say 14-year-old Dorothy Boone took her own life earlier this week. Dorothy was a freshman at Madisonville North Hopkins High School.
Family members say they believe bullying could have been a contributing factor.
14 News contacted the Hopkins County School Board but they declined to comment while the investigation is underway.
Police say now they're looking into different leads to see if this was in fact related to bullying.
"Whatever the contributing factors that are involved in this, we'll get them out and we'll find out. We'll get to the bottom of it, but it's an open investigation and we'll continue to work on it," said Chief Wade Williams with MPD.
MPD says they hope to conclude their investigation within the next couple weeks.
