Ground will be soon be broken for a new medical chopper pad on the New Harmony Fire Station property.
Emergency crews say having the pad in New Harmony could save lives. It would provide a safe place for air crews to land when responding to an emergency.
A $600,000 grant by the Posey County Community Foundation is expected to cover most of the cost.
New Harmonys' new firehouse has only been open a couple of months, but officials say its location off of Highways 66 and 69 is leading to faster response times.
We will keep you updated on when the chopper pad is being installed.
