WARRICK CO., IN (WFIE) -

Election officials in Vanderburgh County say at least 11,000 people have voted early.

In Warrick County, they're seeing a steady stream of voters, but say numbers seem to be much lower than they were four years ago.

Warrick County Clerk Sarah Redman tells 14 News judging by absentee voting, she thinks turnout is just about a fifth of what it was in 2008.

She says they've received about 1,400 early votes by mail and around the same amount of people have come to the Election Office in the Judicial Center to vote in person.

Thursday, they began another option as well in Warrick County for those who can't get out of the house to vote.

They have a group that goes to them. She says about 250 people have utilized that option.

And the clerk wants people to remember voting early can be a convenient alternative to heading to the polls on November 6th.

"Because you never know what might happen on election day," Redman said. "You might get called into work, you might just be too exhausted, you might get off work late. Just all kinds of reasons people can find for not making that vote happen on election day. So, if you can vote early, it's a good option."

You have to list a reason to vote early by mail, but anyone can vote early in person at the Warrick County Election Office.

It's on the first floor of the judicial building in Boonville.
