EVANSVILLE, IN (WFIE) -

U.S. Attorney Joseph Hogsett has announced federal charges against a Haubstadt woman.

35-year-old Emily Snipes is accused of sending threatening emails to herself; pretending they were from an unknown stalker.

AG Hogsett says Snipes reported the threats to the FBI between February and April of this year. FBI agents say, she emailed threatening letters to her personal email account and to her work, the Evansville Catholic Diocese.

Snipes will have an initial hearing in Evansville Federal court within two weeks.

She faces a maximum of five years in prison and a two hundred and fifty thousand dollar fine.
