MADISONVILLE, KY (WFIE) -

The city of Madisonville is recognized for its role in a national city beautification contest.

The city received the Community Involvement Award in a YouTube video contest.

Among the achievements, the city's environmental efforts for projects including the Curbside Recycling Project.

This is the second year Madisonville has competed in this national contest. Organizers say they're thrilled to improve on what they accomplished just one year ago.

"There's so many things that really feel into this framework for America in Bloom and hundreds of volunteers in the community this is something that we can say hey this award is for all your efforts and they've made us really proud," said AIB Co-Chairwoman Leslie Curneal.

The city plans on competing in next year's contest, and if you'd like to sign up to volunteer just call the Madisonville City Hall.
