HENDERSON CO., KY (WFIE) -
As
a reminder, a contractor for the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet plans to
restrict southbound traffic to one lane on the US 41 Twin Bridges at Henderson
on Wednesday and Thursday.
The work they are doing will require southbound traffic to be restricted to one lane from about 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, and possibly Thursday.
The contractor can also place lane restrictions on the bridge between 7:00 p.m. Wednesday and 5:00 a.m. Thursday, if required.
This
lane restriction is to allow the replacement of two
rocker bearings on southbound pier number 11. This work site is on the
Henderson approach end of the southbound bridge.
However, it will
required a lane restriction the entire length of the southbound bridge.
All southbound traffic in this work zone will move to the left-hand or passing lane. Southbound motorists should be prepared to encounter slowing and merging traffic near the entrance to the Trocadero Convenience Store.
Preliminary work on this project started several weeks ago, but completion of
the project had to be delayed to allow some additional fabrication of required
materials.
The contractor will use four 100-ton jacks to raise bridge support
beams about 1/4th of an inch to allow the old rocker bearings to be
removed and the new bearings to be placed on top of the pier.
This work schedule is weather
dependent. In case of rain, the lane restriction will automatically move
to the next working day until complete.
This work zone will have a strictly enforced 45 mile
per hour speed limit that will extend the entire length of the bridge.
No northbound lane restrictions will be required for this project.
