LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - A Louisville woman whose body was
found in the trunk of a burning vehicle last week has been identified as
Whitney McCabe, 33.
The gruesome discovery was made in the 1800 block of
Greenwood Avenue on Thursday.
Tuesday, officials confirmed earlier suspicions
it wasn't the fire that killed her.
McCabe's uncle, John Webber, admitted that Whitney had made
some poor choices in the past and said whoever killed her, was trying to cover
it up.
"98 percent of Whitney's life was a good life,"
said Webber. "She was a good provider, mother and daughter. The two percent overtook her."
Webber said her niece was a free spirit and a mother of
three children.
"She loved her kids she loved her family," said Webber.
Early Thursday morning McCabes body was found after a 911
call was made about a car on fire behind a home in the 1800 block of Greenwood
Avenue. The coroner said McCabe was killed during an assault before someone put
her in the back of the trunk of a car and set it on fire.
"I wouldn't think that someone would do what they
did to her for no reason," said Webber.
Webber said the car belonged to Whitney's father.
It took the coroner some time to officially confirm it
was Whitney's body, but Webber said family members knew early on.
"They had found her license in the car, of course I
don know how much of a license was left," said Webber. "Whitney had
some tattoos on her body. Whatever she got mixed in we aren't sure yet. But if
it was something to do with drugs if it was something to do getting after her
these things can take you over and this is a result of it an its not good."
WAVE 3 did some digging and found that Whitney has a
criminal history dealing with drugs. Court documents indicate that she also has
taken at least three different domestic violence orders in the past.
LMPD said they do not have any new information on this
case. If you have any information call (502) 574-LMPD.
