Fourth time not the charm for accused pharmacy burglar

Posted: Updated:
OWENSBORO, KY (WFIE) -

Police think Paul J. Vowels is the man who tried to break into an Owensboro pharmacy Monday night; something he may have done successfully at least 3 other times.

Around 11:00 p.m., Owensboro Police department responded to a burglary in progress call at Lincoln Pharmacy at 2816 Veach road.

Officers found the front door damaged, but don't believe the thief made it inside.

A short time later there was a burglary at a pharmacy in Whitesville, KY. A vehicle driven by 39-year-old Vowels was stopped on Highway 54 in Philpot by officers from the Daviess County Sheriff's office and Kentucky State Police units.

Vowels was arrested by the DCSO for that burglary.

Detectives with the Owensboro Police Department later interviewed Vowels and charged him with the attempted burglary of Lincoln Pharmacy.

They say he was also linked to three previous burglaries at Lincoln Pharmacy reported on May 20th, June 20th, and August 22nd, 2012.

The suspect is in the Daviess County Detention Center.
