Zeta kicks off its 'Save Lids to Save Lives' campaign

October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and Tuesday Zeta Tau Alpha kicked off it's annual 'Save Lids to Save Lives' campaign.

From now until the end of the year, you can bring your pink Yoplait lids and place them inside one of the drop off boxes at any of the local Schnucks locations.

For each lid you give, Yoplait will donate 15 cents to go toward a local cancer patient or survivor.

Fifteen cents might not sound like a lot, but the local Zeta chapter raises about $12,000 each year. That can pay for the chemotherapy and radiation of two people.

Zeta sorority also launched a new initiative just this past September called 'Take Charge, Think Pink.'

All you have to do is go to the website and register to receive monthly reminders to do a self-examination and annual mammograms.

"In the past we've handed out millions of shower cards that hang in your bathroom at home. But we just thought that the next logical step would be an electronic reminder, and this is an easy way to go online," says Mary Miller, Zeta's District President.
