Purdue is hoping the lessons it learned in Italy will pay big dividends when the games start counting in November.

Robbie Hummel and his classmates who once comprised the "Baby Boilermakers" are gone, and coach Matt Painter is starting all over with a roster that has nine freshmen or sophomores. Clearly, it's going to take time to get in sync.
Yet Painter said during Monday's annual media day that there are similarities between this year's team and the one that started four freshmen in 2007-08 and finished second in the Big Ten.
