Charges filed after Animal Control seizes 100+ animals

OWENSBORO, KY (WFIE) -

Animal cruelty charges have been filed in the case we first told you about Thursday in Owensboro.

More than 100 animals were seized at from a home on Leitchfield Road. They include rats, mice, birds, snakes, and dogs.

Animal Control has charged Geneva and Larry Nelson, who are mother and son, in the case.

They say the dogs have matted fur and fleas, and one dog may need a leg removed. Friday all of the dogs were taken to rescue groups.

Animal Control says all of the rats and mice are now available for adoption.
