EVANSVILLE, IN (WFIE) -

The Diversity Distinguished Lecture Series is a collaborative effort among the City of Evansville, University of Evansville, University of Southern Indiana, Ivy Tech Community College, Evansville Vanderburgh School Corporation, and area businesses committed to the support of diversity within the community.

The Series will present 'An Evening With Harry Belafonte' this Thursday, October 18th at The Centre.

The lecture is free and tickets are not required for admission. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m.   Belafonte's lecture begins at 7.

Harry Belafonte is the entertainer-activist extraordinaire of his generation. Mr. Belafonte will share the struggles, tragedies, and triumphs he has experienced throughout his illustrious career as a singer, actor, social activist, and humanitarian.

It's a rare opportunity to see one of the most influential equal rights activists of the century.

The Mission of the Evansville Diversity Lecture Series is a noble; engaging the Evansville and surrounding communities to  explore, appreciate and celebrate the diversity of race culture and ethnicity.

Its free, entertaining and important.

That's my stand.
