OWENSBORO, KY (WFIE) -

Owensboro Police says they have arrested a woman for prescription fraud.

OPD says the Street Crimes Unit recently arrested 29-year-old Krista K. Evans after conducting an investigation into fraudulent prescriptions being passed at local pharmacies.

Police say the investigation revealed that over a three week period, Evans called in prescriptions to several different pharmacies.

When calling, Evans was claiming to be from a doctor's office.

OPD says that on Thursday, detectives observed Evans picking up medication filled from the fraudulent prescriptions at Nation's Medicine and CVS. Police say she was stopped after leaving the second pharmacy.

Officials say five pill bottles containing hydrocodone were located.

Evans was lodged at the Daviess County Detention Center.
