EVANSVILLE, IN (WFIE) -
A suspect in jail Thursday night, accused of sexually assaulting a mentally challenged man in an Evansville park, and police say there could be more victims.
Police say the suspect, George Schmadel, grabbed the victim inside the men's restroom at Garvin Park. Something Schmadel told police he's done more than 100 times before.
He's in the Vanderburgh County Jail, charged with sexual battery.
Police say Schmadel approached the mentally handicapped man at the water fountain, then followed him into the restroom.
That's where police say Schmadel forced his hand down the victim's pants. The victim then got away and Schmadel was arrested a short time later.
According to police, Schmadel admitted he's grabbed around 100 men in Garvin Park over the past 20 years.
He said he did the same thing to about 15 men at Wesselman Park, and another 15 or so at Sunset Park before Kids Kingdom was built.
Thursday night, police believe there could be more victims.
Police don't know how many of those meetings were consensual and how many were assaults, and they have no reason to believe yet, that any victims may be children.
