VANDERBURGH CO., IN (WFIE) -
A 14 News update on a deadly overnight fire in Vanderburgh County.
Authorities say 48-year-old Michael Fulton died after his mobile home caught fire in the Westbrook Mobile Home Park.
All that's left really is the skeleton of the home. We're told it took about 45 minutes to put out the fire.
Neighboring trailers were evacuated as precaution. The state fire marshal was there, investigating early Thursday morning.
First responders were McCutchanville Fire Department and German Township. The Sheriff's Office is investigating as well.
Fire officials say there may have been oxygen tanks inside the home. Neighbors believe they heard an explosion.
The victim was found in the middle of the trailer.
"It really makes me nervous," said John Spurlin, who live in the park. "These mobile homes are not made like normal homes, so it doesn't take much for it to go up in flames. That's been our concern for a long time that these homes are not really, I don't think, personally, are fire safe."
Again, this is in the Westbrook Mobile Home Park off St. Joe and Wimberg.
