Candidates for Ind. Governor debate in round two

Posted: Updated:
INDIANA (WFIE) -

The three Indiana candidates for governor debated again Wednesday night, this time at the University of Notre Dame.

Each candidate supports the completion of the final leg of I-69 from Bloomington to Indianapolis, but there's no money in the budget to get that done. Each candidate was asked where that money would come from.

"What we do is the existing funds the state has and leverage those and raise $3.5 billion according to Federal Highway Administration that will create 97,000 good paying jobs," Democrat John Gregg said.

Libertarian Rupert Boneham said, "Let's shed light on the administration of I-69 corridor. Let's see where the money has gone and that will help us in the future when are finishing I-69 with the dollars we are going to have to generate, we will spend wisely."

"If we go to Washington, D.C. and say let us have our tax dollars, we'll have an additional $100 million to spend. We can do this. Fight for Hoosier tax dollars and be innovative," Republican Mike Pence said.

The third and final debate will be October 25th in Ft. Wayne.
