A woman was struck and killed by a semi truck Wednesday morning in downtown Carmi.
Officials say it happened around 9 a.m. at Main St. and Main Cross St.
Authorities say 81-year-old Floella Seitz, of Carmi, was crossing the road when she was hit by the semi.
Officials say the accident happened at low speed and it looks like the semi had the green light. Police say witnesses told them that Seitz walked against the light.
Police say Illinois Route 1 had to be closed for about two hours while they conducted their investigation.
