HOPKINS CO., KY (WFIE) -

The library board made it official this week by authorizing a $125,000 down payment to purchase the old Save A Lot grocery store building.

The board has tried to move back downtown on Main Street for the past couple years, but a lack of funds and too many renovation costs forced them to make new plans.

The new location is bigger and has more parking spaces, something that library employees say they're excited about.

"It's just really nice to know that we have a building that's in good condition, that's going to need very minimal repairs or renovations and it'll be ready to go very soon," said Library Director Angel Killough.

The library board hopes to move to its new location sometime in December.
