Just a few weeks ago, a McLean County teenager battling cancer brought a voice to Childhood Cancer Awareness. Lane Goodwin's story captured the nations attention, with tens of thousands of people sending him "Thumbs Up" for support.
Until then, few people had any idea how little money, donated to the National Cancer Institute and American Cancer Society, ever reaches childhood cancers. The numbers are 1% - 4 %.
Now, a group aims to change that. The nonprofit group Curesearch.org keeps administrative and marketing costs so slim, 94% of donations go directly to Childhood Cancer research specifically.
It's being co-organized by an Evansville father who's son directly benefited. He appeared on Mid-day with Mike Monday to talk about it. Click the video to watch it.
