Indiana candidates square off in U.S. Senate debate

INDIANA (WFIE) -

Monday was the U.S. Senate debate, where Democrat Joe Donnelly, Republican Richard Mourdock, and Libertarian Andrew Horning squared off.

During the debate, Donnelly called Mourdock an "unapologetic tea party leader." Mourdock questioned the label and said he's running as a Republican.

Mourdock is also fighting his portrayal by Donnelly as being a partisan politician.

Mourdock, who is the state treasurer, says he's worked with Democrats to set up a college savings plan for Indiana parents.

Congressman Donnelly said he's worked with Republican colleagues on a veterans center and to keep Air Force fighter jets in Ft. Wayne.

Libertarian Andrew Horning urged voters to change the status quo and vote for him.
