EVANSVILLE, IN (WFIE) -

The Reitz Home Museum's 'Sharing Our Past Lecture Series' will host an event Monday night called "The Last Great American Furniture Company."

It's highlighting one local business that's been in operation in Evansville for over 120 years.

That series will be inside The Carriage House at the Reitz Home Museum in Downtown Evansville.

Gretchen Keith, a 5th generation of the Karges Furniture Company, will discuss her family's handcrafted furniture business which has been in operation in Evansville since 1886. She'll discuss handcrafted carvings and the heritage of her family's business in a field that's slowly being taken over by automation.

Examples of their work will even be on display.

"We have the beautiful Louis the 16th fautile which has been on display here for a few weeks," said Matt Rowe, Director of Reitz Home Museum. "It belongs to them. It has a cane back and beautiful white upholstery and hand carved arms and back. They will discuss the history of their company as well as the exquisite hand carved European style furniture that they produce there."

Anyone's welcome to come. It's at 7 Monday night inside the Carriage House behind the Reitz Home Museum.

Just park on Chestnut.

It's $5 or free for members.
