A fundraiser was held Saturday for an Owensboro middle school student battling brain cancer.
Zhauntez Thornton, known as T-Bird, was diagnosed with cancer at the age of 9.
He's had several surgeries, but the tumors keep returning.
On Saturday, he got support from "Team T-Bird" who raised money to help pay for traveling expenses to see his doctor in Ohio.
"When I make these trips, my mom hasn't got the papers filled out yet, I gotta keep up with all the work that I missed and it's hard catching up to the other students," said Zhauntez Thornton.
"He gets up and he takes medicine and he takes pain medication and he goes on to school and that was his wish to continue in school and to continue playing sports," said his mother, Elizabeth Harris. "He's even currently playing football for the Eagles here in Owensboro."
T-Bird is in the 6th grade at Owensboro Middle School.
