Evansville's west side is a lot cleaner thanks to some high school students who got up early to help give back.
Seven Evansville high schools prepared all week for Operation Hot Mess, with pep rallies and catchy chants. Saturday was the big show.
More than 400 students and community members grabbed garbage bags and rolled up their sleeves before hitting the streets.
It's all a part of the Mayor's Clean Evansville initiative. More than 100 students from North High School cleaned around Franklin Street where the Fall Festival took place just two weeks ago.
"Our slogan last night was 'Cleanup the Bears at Central Stadium' and we wanted to carry that over to today and get a lot of live action and pick up some trash," said students from North.
The school with the highest participation is going to win a party.
