VANDERBURGH CO., IN (WFIE) -

Reports of suspicious prescriptions at an area pharmacy have led to the arrests of two men.

Thursday afternoon, Indiana State Police arrested 27-year-old Samuel J. Ballou from Henderson. He faces the charge of Conspiracy to Commit Obtaining a Controlled Substance by Fraud, a Class D Felony.  Ballou was arrested at approximately 4:00 p.m. after he turned himself in at the Vanderburgh County Jail.

He was later released after posting a $2,500 cash bond.

A Indiana State Police Detective initiated a criminal investigation in January after receiving information that suspicious prescriptions were filled at a pharmacy in Vanderburgh County.

The investigation seemed to reveal that Ballou took blank prescriptions from an Evansville physician and later provided them to 25-year-old James Wood, also of Henderson.

Wood allegedly used the blank prescription to obtain 90 units of Roxicodone, which is a controlled substance to relieve pain.

Wood was arrested on July 10th for Conspiracy to Commit Obtaining a Controlled Substance by Fraud, a Class D Felony.

He was released from the Vanderburgh County Jail after posting bond.
