EVANSVILLE, IN (WFIE) -
Making pizzas doesn't usually bring in loads of cash, but for one local team, slinging slices just might.
Andrew Patterson and Colleen Westmor are competing in the Papa John's Global Pizza Games.
Their challenge?
To make six of the most perfect pies in the shortest amount of time. If they do it, they become 'World Champions.'
The pair has already beat out 4,000 other teams from national chains in the competition so far.
But you can't just win with speed alone. There are some tricks of the trade, they say, make them a cut above the rest.
"When I put the sausage on, making sure its distributed very well all around the outside and inside. Because right there, if you don't have a couple in the right spots, it can really cost you. Those are the most costly pizzas, when you get a sausage pizza wrong," Patterson said.
"Just ignore everyone. Pay attention to what my partner is doing and what I'm doing and just do what we've been doing for years," Westmor said.
The grand prize for winning the Papa John's Global Games is $10,000 each. It is set to be held in March of 2013.
