EVANSVILLE, IN (WFIE) -

It's time to pull our coats out of the closet and help out a kid in need.

If you have a coat you want to get rid of, you can hand them over to Don's Claytons Cleaners' Coat A Kid campaign.

For 27 years, the community has donated coats for kids who might not have one otherwise. The cleaners will wash the coats and distribute them.

"These kids, their parents don't have the ability to get a coat for their kids. They're having to wear last year's hand-me-downs. There's a number of reasons why this is so important that we do this every year. The children are, they need to be kept warm," said Steve Schmitt with Don's Claytons Cleaners.

Children in need of a coat can get one free at the Salvation Army, or the Christian Life Center.
