Losing Sleep Due to Television?

Too much TV during the day could mean too little sleep for kids, according to a new study.
For some thirty years, doctors at the New York State Psychiatric Institute surveyed more than seven hundred and fifty parents and children every three to five years. The results suggest too much time glued to the tube could lead to trouble sleeping.

Jeffrey Johnson of New York State Psychiatric Institute explained, "We found that heavy TV viewing was associated with increased risk for difficulty falling asleep, and also with increased risk for waking up in the middle of the night and having trouble going back to sleep."

Researchers found teens who watch three or more hours of TV per day are twice as likely as those who watch less than an hour per day to develop difficulty sleeping.
