EVANSVILLE, IN (WFIE) -
A strong police presence must be working at the Fall Festival. Authorities say they've only had to make a few arrests.
Police say it's the usual. Some public intoxications, a little vandalism and an alleged car-break in or two, but for the most part, EPD say it's been a quieter week than in year's past.
The department has it's guardian parked along Franklin this week. Not for surveillance, but so people can get a sneak peek.
Rain early this week kept attendance, and in turn crime, down.
But Sgt. Jason Cullum says since then, the weather's improved and festival attendance is way up.
That's brought more fights and other crimes that officers have had to deal with, and Friday night is usually a busy night.
"We increase our manpower a little bit. It actually starts Thursday night with school being out Friday, we treat it as a weekend night," Cullum said. "We have a couple extra officers down here. We spend months ahead of the festival getting ready, making sure that we know what kinds of manpower needs we're going to have."
Besides police, Cullum says the fire department and paramedics are at the ready in the event of an emergency.
He also wants to remind parents about the lost and found booth in the middle of Franklin, you may want to check their if you lose track of your kids.
