PRINCETON, IN (WFIE) -

The city of Princeton was named a Stellar Community back in May, bringing more than $18 million to renovate the downtown area.

The city submitted more than 51 quality based selections to firms throughout the country and heard back from just eight.

From those, they've chosen an architect to complete the front and rear facades and an engineering firm to complete the bicentennial plaza.

Five million dollars has been set aside for these three projects. The biggest project is a senior housing development behind the post office.

"It's a six million dollar project on it's own, there will be 38 units for our seniors, basically it's two stories high," explained Princeton Mayor Bob Hurst.

Contracts are expected to be in place for all 10 projects by the beginning of next year. Residents can expect the downtown area to begin it's transformation around the town square in early Spring.
