KSP offering new way to report crime

Posted: Updated:
KENTUCKY (WFIE) -

Kentucky State Police are trying to make it easier to report a crime with a new program called "Text A Tip."

"Text A Tip" works this way: you type 6-7-2-8-3 in the address field, then type KSP-Tip into the message field, then enter information about a crime. Troopers say students can even report bullying in schools.

"You could be in a crowd and you could text the information and nobody is going to be able to hear you or see what you're texting and it could be a tip that could possibly be very beneficial to law enforcement," said KSP Trooper Stu Recke.

"Text A Tip" is operational 24 hours a day. And if there is an emergency, always dial 9-1-1.
