EVANSVILLE, IN (WFIE) -
Fire crews spent much of Thursday morning battling a blaze at a home on Evansville's north side.
The fire department says it broke out right around 3:00 this morning at 707 Reis Avenue.
The Evansville Fire Department tells 14 News there is no official ruling on the cause of this fire yet. Neighbors say the home was vacant.
Crews had to go into defense mode when they arrived on scene in the 700 block of Reis early Thursday morning as they dealt with huge flames.
Police confirm that this is at least the fifth fire within a few blocks that's happened lately.
Neighbors say three homes and two garages have caught fire.
Police say all of them have been ruled arson so far, although we are still waiting on a ruling on this latest blaze.
Neighbors say they look after each other, especially the seniors in the area. and they want this to stop.
"We watch out for each other, but you know they're getting uncalm, a little scared and like everyone else we're young, but we're scared too," said Coby Markham, whose garage caught fire. "Hopefully it's just one arrest, but yeah we would like it stopped completely."
The fire investigator again hasn't made a ruling on this morning's blaze.
