People of many faiths gather to pray for Lane

Posted: Updated:

People from a number of faiths gathered Wednesday night at Smothers Park in Owensboro, all praying for Lane Goodwin.

More than 100 people lit candles at the event put on by Zion United Church of Christ.

Lane is the 13-year-old McLean County boy battling cancer whose thumbs up support campaign has gone viral on social media.

Zion UCC Pastor Lori Keller Schroeder led this evening's prayers.

"We need to come together as a community and offer our prayers for him and for his family. And through him, all kids who suffer with and endure the trauma of childhood cancer," Schroeder said.

Donations for Lane's medical expenses are being accepted at Independence Bank.
