Residents to be held responsible for underage drinking on their property

MCLEAN CO, KY (WFIE) -

Property owners and residents in McLean County may now be held responsible if they allow underage drinking on their property.

The McLean County Fiscal Court voted to adopt a social host ordinance, which grants local law enforcement the power to cite and fine people for underage drinking.

The measure carries a $250 fine for a first offense and a $500 fine for any subsequent offenses.

The ordinance does not hold property owners responsible if they are not aware of the use of their property for a party.
