GIBSON CO., IN (WFIE) -

A major accident shut down parts of US 41 south of Fort Branch overnight.

Deputies say an Oaktown man was driving south on 41 when he ran off the road and hit a berm. The truck used it as a ramp and was launched into the air, then landed on the other side of an embankment 50 feet away.

Officials say the man in the truck was asleep when the deputy arrived and had to be cut from the truck.

He was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes for complaint of pain and lacerations.

Deputies say they believe he was intoxicated.
