Residents concerned after shots are fired in Evansville neighborhood

EVANSVILLE, IN (WFIE) -

Shots were fired in an Evansville neighborhood, and now residents are worried about their safety and the safety of their children.

Wednesday evening, people were heard arguing in a parking lot in the 1300 block of Dresden Street. Witnesses then say two shots were fired from the rear passenger seat of a car leaving that lot.

At least six more shots were fired when the car stopped at the corner of Dresden and Fifth Avenue. Police recovered 10 shell casings at the scene.

"Around toward the front of the house, it sounded like someone actually knocked on my door like four times real quick," said neighbor Bill Wilkes. "I'm glad my kids weren't outside during it, seeing how it was late."

There are no reported injuries. Police are patrolling the area, looking for an older white, light blue or gray Cadillac or cutlass.

If you have any information, call Evansville Police.
