First frost of the season possible Monday morning

Posted: Updated:
TRI-STATE (WFIE) -

A Frost Advisory is in effect for the Tri-State from 2 a.m. until 8 a.m. Monday morning.

Temperatures are expected to drop into the mid to upper 30s area wide. I'm forecasting a low near 37 in Evansville. The record is 34 from 1983.

Lows in the mid 30s will create scattered frost in the Tri-State, particularly low-lying valleys.

Although this will not be a widespread killing freeze with temps in the 20s, it will be cold enough for some tender plants to be killed. Cover-up any plants you think aren't hardy enough to survive light frosty conditions for a few hours, including most annuals.

This is the coldest morning in sight, as temperatures moderate beginning Tuesday.
