(NBC) -
Television honors its best from the past year Sunday night.
The Emmy Awards will be handed out in Los Angeles, and several winning streaks will be on the line.
The big drama is whether "Mad Men" will be Best Drama, again.
It's won four straight times, and no drama has ever won five.
"It feels like we're still living in the 'Mad Men' era right now," says Entertainment Weekly's Darren Franich.
But Franich thinks an upset could come from a first year conspiracy thriller, Showtime's "Homeland", or from the very popular British period drama, "Downton Abbey".
Even if "Mad Men" does win, Franich expects series star Jon Hamm to once again miss out as Best Actor.
Bryan Cranston of "Breaking Bad" is among those standing in the way. He's won three previous times.
"I think this is the Bryan Cranston category as long as he wants it," Franich predicts.
When it comes to laughs, "Modern Family" is widely expected to make it three straight
Wins as Best Comedy.
Some Emmy love could come Louis C.K.'s way.
He's got Writing and Directing nominations for his comedy "Louie", but one for Best Actor could be his best bet.
"There's a sense that the sheer undertaking that he puts into the show may have finally earned himself the award this year," Franich says.
The Best Actress field is crowded with past winners, and one of them is favored by many to win again, Julia Louis Dreyfuss for playing a rough edged vice president in HBO's "Veep".
One very long winning streak will be on the line.
"The Daily Show with Jon Stewart" has won the Emmy for best variety series nine years straight, and it's nominated once again.
