A Henderson man died Sunday after being struck by a train.

Henderson Police has released the identity of the man to be 51-year-old Charles S. Damrath of Henderson.

Early Sunday morning, the Henderson Police Department was notified by CSX Railroad Police that a person had been struck by train just south of the Clay Street railroad crossing. 

CSX Railroad Police told officers that the engineers saw a person lying on the railroad tracks, immediately began to brake while sounding the horn, but were unable to stop the train before it hit Damrath.

Damrath was pronounced dead at the scene. 

Henderson Police tells 14 News that no foul play is suspected in his death. Officers say an autopsy will be conducted.

Henderson Police is asking anyone with information about Damrath's activities prior to the accident at 12:45 a.m., to contact them at 270-831-1295 or Crime Stoppers at 270-831-1111.
