OWENSBORO, KY (WFIE) -

It's time for the 13th Annual Senior Day Out in Owensboro, when hundreds of seniors pack Towne Square Mall for a day filled with laughter and learning.

Green River Area Development District, also known as GRADD, is hosting the event today.

The organization is partnering with other entities like Kentucky State Police and Kentucky AARP.

Speakers will cover topics that affect seniors every day, like fraud, identity theft and disaster preparedness.

Everything kicks off this morning at 8:30 with breakfast and live music will continue during the event.

Organizers say as fun as the day is, attention must be given to the issues that can negatively affect seniors.

"I think the thing is we really want to get the word out there and awareness that you know unfortunately these things do happen and we will be here to try to protect and educate as much as we can to avoid," said Ashley Glenn, GRADD.

As far as the live music goes, there's going to be bluegrass, gospel singers and we are told that even Elvis is scheduled to make an appearance!
