OWENSBORO, KY (WFIE) -
The Discovery Channel will pay a visit to some Owensboro elementary students today.
It's part of a program teaching the seven habits of highly effective people at East View Elementary School.
The school will host Jason Emmons from the show "Saw dogs" at 9 Tuesday morning.
He'll create a physical object, like a bench or a tree, so that students can actually see one of the seven habits of highly effective people.
The seventh habit is called "sharpen your saw" and is meant to encourage renewal in all aspects of students' lives.
Emmons' visit is also a reward to celebrate high attendance day.
School leaders say displaying what is enforced in class every day is beneficial, but actually seeing it in action is even more powerful.
"I think it's a big part of learning if they have a visual to go along with it and we thought this would be a fun experience for students to enjoy to see a chainsaw in action, but also see somebody doing something that they enjoy and they love and expressing their artistic ability," said Principle Ann Marie Williams.
Emmons will be at east view until two this afternoon so that students and the public will have a chance to visit with him.
Principal Williams says that she wants her students to enjoy life from all sides, which is why she's opening her school today so that others can see the messages being taught.
