EPD gives community an inside look at police work

Posted: Updated:
EVANSVILLE, IN (WFIE) -

The Evansville Police Department will host a "Citizen's Academy" Tuesday night.

The goal of the academy program is to give the community an inside look at the police department.

If you can't make it tonight, the academy will run from 6-9 each Tuesday for 8 weeks.

The program is designed to create better understanding and communication between citizens and police through education.

This is an opportunity for the citizens of the community to know more about the men and women who are protecting their community and why they make certain decisions.

The academy also presents an opportunity for the citizens to voice any comments or concerns directly to the department.

Members of the department will be teaching each session and will be covering several different topics. Anything from the K-9 unit to criminal investigations and police firearms.

The program is free.
