Weigh-in on what to do with old Perry Co. school building

Posted: Updated:
PERRY CO., IN (WFIE) -

You have the chance to weigh in on what happens next to an old school building.

Local man Randy Cole recently bought the old junior high school building, and he says he now wants to hear your suggestions on what it should become.

Cole says he bought the building at an auction at a bid of $85,000. Cole says he was motivated to buy the building because he says it is still structurally sound, and it sits near one of the town's main thoroughfares.

Cole says the 60,000 square-foot building is built in such a way that walls can be easily moved or torn down. He says he can envision the building becoming something like an events center, but he says other ideas are out there and he would like to hear them.

"To have an asset like this in a small community, and not to be able to turn it into something positive for the community is just a shame. So I felt, because of the location, because of the quality of the structure, it's something with a little bit of input from the community, we could come to a solution and a use for this to become a very positive asset here for our community," Cole said.Randy

Cole says he can be contacted either by email or by phone and that he's open to any and all suggestions.
