GREENVILLE, KY (WFIE) -

A memorial service is planned for Saturday, honoring emergency service workers who have given the ultimate sacrifice.

The Green River Fire Association Honor Guard will host the ceremony. It takes place Saturday afternoon at the Felix E. Martin Hall in Greenville.

Firefighters, Police officers, EMTs and many more from September 11th and the local area will be recognized.

Emergency responders say it's important to honor all those in the field, not just the ones that are seen the most.

"They see our pictures out there as emergency responders," said Commander Charlie Rafferty with the Daviess County Fire Department. "A lot of times the public doesn't realize the dispatchers is where we get our start. They get us all of our information, on scene information, what the emergency is."

The event starts at 4:00 p.m. and is free and open to the public.
