LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - A woman jumped out of a moving car and landed into Interstate 65 traffic Thursday morning. Louisville Metro Police Department officers said she's expected to be ok after an ambulance transported her to University Hospital with injuries not believed to be life-threatening.

The incident happened around 9:20 a.m. in the northbound lanes on the I-65 Kennedy Bridge. Traffic came to a standstill for about an hour as accident reconstruction officers investigated.

Later, police swarmed a vehicle matching the car's description at a Thornton gas station near Exit 0 in Jeffersonville. Witnesses told police the woman jumped from a red Chevrolet Impala.

Officers questioned a man in a red Impala before he entered the back seat of an LMPD cruiser.  Initially, police said there was a male driver and a female passenger inside the vehicle before she jumped out. Police didn't release additional information.

During the investigation at the gas station, a child in a car seat was taken out of the Impala and placed in a separate vehicle.

A group of people in the other vehicle did not want to comment after speaking with police.

There was no immediate information about the vehicle involved or any charges would be filed.

Kennedy bridge traffic reopened just before 10:30 a.m.
