EVANSVILLE, IN (WFIE) -

The runway project at the Evansville Regional Airport is changing traffic patterns in that area and a new roundabout is causing some confusion.

One way signs clearly label the traffic pattern, so you might have to go almost all the way around in some cases to get to your road exit.

The roundabout connects Oak Hill Road, Hedder Road, Millersburgh Road, and what will be the new Oak Hill extension. The extension will connect drivers from all three roads up to Kansas Road.

The goal of the roundabout is to keep traffic moving. Cars entering the roundabout only stop to yield to oncoming traffic.

The best part about a roundabout is that its not a four way stop. Traffic moves very smoothly especially in low traffic times because you don't have to come to a complete stop. There are yield signs that allow you on to the roundabout," said Nate Hahn, the operations manager at EVV.

The speed limit signs aren't up yet, but the speed limit inside the roundabout is 20 miles per hour.

Use caution when entering because even though you may know how to navigate, it may take some time for others to get used to it.
