Indiana and Kentucky Observe 9-11

Indiana and Kentucky's Governors' are directing flags in their states to be lowered to half-staff.

Mitch Daniels wants flags throughout the Hoosier State and at the State House be lowered in honor of Patriot Day and National Day of Service and Remembrance Tuesday.

Steve Beshear asks all Kentuckians to remember each of the lives lost on 9/11 and to honor their memories by lowering flags Tuesday.

Beshear says "September 11, 2001 was one of the darkest days in our country's history. Nearly 3,000 Americans died that day, and even though years have passed, the pain will never be fully erased," Gov. Beshear said.

"I call on all Kentuckians to remember and honor these Americans and their families on 9/11."

This is in accordance with a directive from President Barack Obama. The President's directive also includes a call to all Americans to observe a moment of silence at 8:46 a.m. EDT.
