TRI-STATE (WFIE) -
This week our country will remember the 11th anniversary of the attacks of 9/11. Unfortunately, the memorials and events wont be as large as last years 10th anniversary.
'We must never forget' was the slogan we heard in the months after the attack. I will remind you that for the family of Lance Corporal Alec Terwiske of Dubois County, this 9/11 anniversary is one they will always remember because of the ultimate sacrifice their son gave in defense of the United States.
I will also remind you that soldiers are still being deployed to Afghanistan, and those families will be reminded this week of why their loved ones are leaving to finish what Enduring Freedom began.
So on this odd year of the 9/11 anniversary, I ask that you never forget those who died on September 11th; and those who died in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Say a prayer, hang a flag, thank a police officer, EMS, firefighter, or maybe take a trip to Jasper, Indiana on Wednesday when Lance Corporal Terwiske's body arrives at the Huntingburg Airport; hold a flag on his route to the funeral in tribute to his families sacrifice for our freedom and protection.
Details of the arrival, the procession, visitation and funeral are on 14news.com
That's my stand.
